Batman and Robin

May 16th, 2009 by Holly

Hi Stacy,

All four boys are doing wonderful!  Batman and Robin have settled in just fine and enjoy chasing each other around, playing with little boy toys, and mutilating every straw that crosses their path.  They really do have a fascination with straws.  You have to watch your Sonic cups around the house or they will snatch it!  LOL!

I attached a few photos for you guys!

Thanks for checking in on them.  They are an absolute delight around our home!

Sparkle

Sparkle is a wonderful and loving cat! She has become a lap cat and LOVES to have her tummy rubbed - I don’t know too many cats that really like that. She has really blossomed and still plays fetch and will often come when called. Thanks for letting me give her a home.

Isaiah

February 10th, 2009 by Holly

Hi Stacy,

Here are a couple more pictures of Isaiah that I thought you might enjoy.  Brian came across him sleeping and got a few shots with his camera phone.  Judging from the position we think he’s probably feeling very much at home now.

By the way, congratulations on the progress you’ve made with Ivory Bumble.  He looks good and appears to be thriving on the love and care you’ve given him.  Keep up the great work and I hope to see more updates on him soon.  Take care.

Ivory Bumble

February 7th, 2009 by Holly

In the last newsletter, we wrote an article about Ivory Bumble, a cat Stacy Bauer rescued after trying for two years. Here is an update from Stacy on how Ivory is doing:

“Ivory is definitely a changed cat.  His wound is almost healed, except for a tiny spot.  I am hoping most of his hair will grow back. He still has his “feral” side, but he seems to forget that on occasion.  When it’s chow time, I can place the food bowl right outside of his cage and he immediately jumps out to eat.  Food is definitely the way to his heart!  Once he starts eating I can pet him all over, until he eventually finishes the food and laps up the love.  Then he falls over on his side and lets me rub his tummy. He loves to be brushed and really loves his ears and cheeks rubbed.  He purrs and makes biscuits and cannot get close enough to me. He will lay down beside me and he let’s me pick him up and carry him around for short distances.  But if I put him down and walk away, he is ok until I walk back toward him, then he freaks out a little bit, so I cannot yet leave him alone when he is out of his cage.  And I cannot reach in to pet him when he is on his shelf in the cage (he scratched me today).  He definitely has to come to me on his terms, but once he comes to me, it’s all over!  Then he’s just a lovable teddy bear.

Stacy.”

Jet

February 7th, 2009 by Holly

After trying to escape a couple of times out of the front and back door (twice with success), I decided to get a leash and see if it takes the urge away from it. Jet is having a great time. He walks with me like a dog (though he leads where we go). And today he came running when I got the leash out.

Lex (Jet’s brother) is not interested in this at all. He rather sits in the window and watches.

I thought I share this with you.

Have a great day,

Antje

Maribel - What a Face!

January 2nd, 2009 by Kelly

I adopted Maribel 8/23/08 and at first she was so skittish and afraid and would not let me pet her or hold her, but my two other rescue cats immediately started playing with her and she became more and more trusting.  She is the sweetest calico and we have “bathtub ceremony” every morning when I step out of the shower.  She makes me sit on the edge of the tub wrapped in a towel and she jumps up and sits in my lap and won’t let me get ready for work until she has had at least five minutes of back massage.  When I sit on the couch watching tv, she fights for a spot right on my lap, pushing the other two out of the way!  Now she’s a lover!  Look at that face!

Maribel

Thank you!

Boo

October 18th, 2008 by Kelly

It has now been almost ten months. Boo has grown into a beautiful big boy. And his personality continues to develop. Nothing scares him – nothing! He is very vane. He never misses stopping at a mirror to admire himself. He is into everything. There is not a door, cabinet or drawer he cannot open. In fact, the other day we came home to his adventures in the wet bar. He had removed a couple of bottles of wine, but nothing was broken.

Boo is always at the door to tell us good bye and to greet us when we come home. He loves to play and the other cats have finally decided he is not so bad. The dogs could care less unless he attempts to help himself to their dinner.

Boo

Our life with Boo is an adventure. We would not trade it for anything. If you discipline him too much he throws tantrums which can only be stopped with a good dose of love and arm holding time. He may be a handful, but he is our handful. He fills every day of our lives with joy and love. We may be his third home, but we are his final home. We cannot imagine our life without Boo.

Church

October 18th, 2008 by Kelly

In May of 2007 we visited the cats at our local pet store we were immediately drawn to a small Russian blue tabby mix by the name of “Ceasar.”  We couldn’t leave without him so we adopted him, brought him home and gave him a new name — Church.  He is now a very healthy, happy and one spoiled rotten kitten! We thought we would send you a picture to add to the happy endings blog. Here is Church having fun at a birthday party!

Thanks for having a great cat like Church at New Beginnings Cat Rescue.
